Why This Guide Exists
Alabama has 67 county systems, and the way one county presents a booking can differ from the next. A sheriff or detention agency may show a roster, provide a time-limited search, or direct a records request to another office. Some official views include a booking photo; others omit it. A statewide search therefore works best when it helps a reader find the source that actually holds the record instead of implying that one screen covers every arrest.
The distinction between record layers matters, too. A jail creates or maintains booking information at intake. ALEA Highway Patrol publishes selected enforcement news but does not run one public daily arrest ledger. Alabama courts hold case and disposition information after an arrest, while the Alabama Department of Corrections maintains a separate trail for people sentenced to state prison. These records answer different questions and may not update at the same time.
Our role is to explain those differences, link to government sources, and route readers to the right county guide. The site does not copy official rosters or store arrest photos. Each arrest is an accusation, not a finding of guilt, and a booking entry alone does not show how a case ended.
What the Site Covers
The statewide pages focus on routes and limits that apply across Alabama:
- The Alabama recent-arrests hub compares booking records, county feeds, public photo practices, fugitive lists, and follow-up record layers.
- The County Directory links to the locality guide for each of Alabama's 67 counties.
- Daily Arrest Report and Weekly Arrest Log explain same-day windows and longer blotter views.
- VINELink Inmate Check describes the separate county and state notification paths.
- Public Arrest Records explains Alabama access rules, restrictions, expungement, and copied records.
- Highway Patrol Arrests covers ALEA's enforcement news and county booking routes.
What This Site Cannot Do
Alabama Recent Arrests is privately operated and is not connected to ALEA, a sheriff, a jail, the courts, the Department of Corrections, or another government office. We do not hold official records and cannot act for the agency that does.
- We cannot confirm a person's current custody, release, or transfer.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send money to a person in custody.
- We cannot give legal advice or file a record request for you.
- We cannot promise that an office's contact details, fees, or roster are unchanged.
Only the agency or facility holding the record can verify current custody, charges, and release status. Use the directory to find a likely county source, then confirm directly with that government office.
Search Partners
Some search boxes on this site are operated by outside providers, not by the county, ALEA, or our editorial pages. A provider may set its own search scope, registration steps, and price. If a visitor follows a tool to a paid service, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the free guide. We do not control the partner's results, pricing, or data practices, so review its terms before submitting information.
